Move More. Live More

Why Movement Matters

Our Purpose

You move. It works.

The world is moving faster, but we are slowing down. Nearly half of people describe their behavior as “sedentary” or “lightly active,” but in reality, that number is over 60 percent.* We all could use a motivating force to counteract our tendencies to stare at screens and stay put.

As a brand designed for and dedicated to promoting movement, Degree® is working to combat sedentary habits by encouraging active, healthy lifestyles around the country. In the coming years, we’ll leverage a variety of partnerships and programs to make a commitment to you: That by 2024, Degree will help create movement opportunities, tools and resources for 10 million people. And we want you to be a part of this change.

To start, Degree is joining forces with Blue Zones®, global experts in community health and well-being transformation, to launch a Made to Move grant program that will provide half a million dollars in funding for city projects that promote increased physical movement. But there are also many easy ways you can begin to make changes in your life and the lives of those around you today.

*Rexona polled over 1,000 American adults aged 18-44 in June 2018 about how much physical activity they are getting and what their motivations were to move more.

Our Partner, Blue Zones

Blue Zones founder and National Geographic Fellow Dan Buettner identified five places in the world — dubbed blue zones — where people live the longest (into their 100s) and are healthiest: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. These five regions share nine common behaviors that contribute to longevity — one of them being the shared activity of moving naturally each day.

Inspired by the world’s longest-living cultures, Blue Zones helps bring the lifestyle habits of these longevity hotspots to communities across the United States — transforming communities by optimizing environments, policies and social networks.

As one of America’s top experts in healthy city-making, Blue Zones shares Degree’s passion for reinventing communities to be more movement-friendly so it's easier for more people to be empowered to lead more physically active lifestyles.
